End of the Year Poetry Journal Closure!!!

This is what I did last school year.  They walked around and signed each other's poetry journals.  I will post this year's pics next week...

I also give a picture of myself as a first grader to my kiddies.  They put it into their poetry journal along with the poem called ..."At the beginning of September....You came into my class, how well I remember."

I love this idea. We have a similar poetry notebook and I will definitely be adding the autograph page this year. Thanks for the great idea!

We do a poem of the week and I was wondering when you have your children work on these poetry books- I was thinking about having them work on it during D5 time.

On Fridays, after our weekly reading assessments, I give my students FREE TIME to do what they want with the poem. I provide the materials and my ideas, but they work on it for as long as they like with no pressures. They look forward to it and sometimes ask me to do more than one poem a week. Other teachers include it as a center throughout the week. My students enjoy the uninterrupted time that is given to them on Friday...they walk around and share ideas with each other...or they encourage others to do their BEST work! :) Friday is Poetry Day!!
